History
The Wijkcomité Sint-Godelieve started in 1984 with organising cyclinggames at the yearly fair. In fact is the wijkcomité an consequence of the vzw Rioole, who organised local fairs, such as action and other feasts on the fair.
Under impuls from Geert en Wim Pyfferoen, Marc Desmet ( member untill 1990 ), Marnix Denolf (member untill 1990), Geert Liebaert (member untill 2002), Peter Van Acker (deceased) and as from 1989, Kurt Vanneste who took over the secretary tasks of Peter Van Acker. After 4 years of games for juniors, they are switched in 1988 to the cyclocross because the local cyclist Kris Devlaeminck lived in Sint-Godelieve.
Under pulse of its father and father in law (respectively Daniël Devlaeminck and Marcel Vanhaelemeersch) who answered then for the advancement of the parcours, the first cyclocross was arranged for B category. That first game was immediately a shot in the rose, because it was shinning wheather.
Since 1992 we have then got fixed names on the calendar with organising a A field ride and since 1998 we have been the opener of the famous super prestige event. Also in 1998, we organised the Belgian championship cyclocross for juniores and entrants, with winners as Kurt Rogiers with the beginners and Sven Vanthourenhout with the juniors.
